In Hartman’s greenhouses, Friesian and Polish workers are employed to pick the tomatoes and cucumbers. They’re thrown together by economic factors and have to work side by side. They form a community – a ‘mienskip’ as the Friesian’s would call it.
They work hard, party hard, and enjoy a drink. There’s gossip and flirtations, arguments and friendships. Then suddenly a body is discovered.
Who is it? What’s happened?
The tragic love story of the Frisian Klaske and Polish worker Wojtek is told in an especially farmed scene of tomato plants in the biggest greenhouse-complex of Friesland (northern province of The Netherlands). Among others, Maartje van de Wetering, Leopold Witte, Redbad Klijnstra, and Peter Jakubow are part of the cast, playing together with many amateur players and musicians of Frisian theatre and music associations. Titus Tiel Groenestege and Geert Lageveen, both theatre makers originally from Friesland, signed for the text and staging of the performance.
